County hires Washington firm for legislative advocate

Aiken County Council authorized a contract with Kutak Rock of Washington DC to provide a legislative advocate in the Capitol. Managing Partner Seth Kirshenberg will be the county eyes and ears in Washington at a cost of 7500 dollars monthly plus expenses, with 100000 dollars set aside in the FY 2009 2010 budget. The firm will pursue federal funds and develop a legal and legislative strategy focused on transportation housing and community development and other projects. Kirshenberg has prior DOE adjacent community experience and has worked on energy policy and DOE contracts.
