FAA report highlights airport capacity limits and delays
The FAA finds 23 of 31 major airports face periods when scheduled takeoffs or landings exceed capacity. Even in clear weather 15 airports cannot handle all flights at times. LaGuardia and O Hare show gaps between capacity and daily schedules while several others experience frequent delays. Airlines and experts urge limits at peak times to reduce delays as traffic is projected to grow 39 percent by 2012.
