Lucille Ball dies at 77 after heart surgery in Los Angeles
Lucille Ball, star of I Love Lucy and Desilu founder, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after emergency heart surgery to replace her aorta and aortic valve. Hospital spokesman Ronald Wise said she died suddenly following a week of gradual improvement. Ball had faced heart issues and throat surgery in prior years.
