Bus driver dies on route as students stop runaway vehicle
A Central Islip school bus veered into oncoming traffic after driver Mary Flammer suffered a fatal heart attack. Three junior high students, 14 year old Jack Florival and 15 year olds Sean Mohan and Nigel Boyer, sprinted forward to grab the wheel and apply brakes, bringing the bus to a halt with five youngsters aboard. The event followed a nearby council easing an anti ugly law in Dublin California, allowing some laundry airing in private spaces while removing side-yard garbage can ban.

Sailors Return Home After Bonefish Fire Off Florida
Sailors from the submarine Bonefish returned to Charleston less than a day after an explosion and fire disabled the ship off Florida. A second submarine rescue ship Petrel was dispatched to aid. Three sailors were missing and 23 injured in the incident. The Navy pledged a full investigation into the battery fire aboard the 30 year old vessel.
