Witness says mayor-elect had no lights in wreck
A witness told investigators Steve Benjamin’s headlights were off when his Mercedes SUV struck a Toyota Tercel near the State House in Columbia early Wednesday. Police say the case remains under investigation and unclear if distraction or speed played a role.
