Memorial service honors slain Keenan O Mailia
Community fills Poteet Funeral Home chapel in North Augusta to mourn six year old Keenan Andre O Mailia. family friends and teachers attend as children from Hammond Hill Elementary School send a self illustrated prayer. Keenan disappeared while riding his bike and was found dead Sunday near his Georgetown Villa home. The Rev Jim Glander reads a mother composed eulogy and the service ends with I Believe I Can Fly and Jesus Loves Me as mourners console one another.

One year later Heart recipient doesn’t miss a beat
Robbie Bell received a heart transplant on March 17 1998 after rheumatic fever damaged his valves. His wife DiAnn and the donors family are cited for awareness as National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week closes. Bell reports no complications a year post surgery and describes an active life with his wife including biking and park visits.
