Local Leaders To Press Washington On Savannah River Site Future
Aiken County business and civic leaders from the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce, 17 members in all, travel to Washington next week to press for SRS support and preservation. They will meet with DOE and Defense officials, plus Education Secretary Richard Riley, to outline three aims: broad SRS backing, strong site personnel and resources, and SRS as a valuable defense resource. Local participants will also bring personal concerns to the talks.
