North Augusta sewer trunk line sparks debate in Belvedere area
At a public meeting in North Augusta residents heard claims the city would charge high rates and lack representation if a sewer trunk line serves Belvedere and Clearwater. Officials discussed two proposed lines Storm Branch and Willow Springs with county funding and EPA grants potentially lowering bills, while noting residents would repay local funds through rates.

Aiken County Board of Education Opened Facilities to State Review
CPAHS Wants Money Slay also informed the gathering that the Aiken County Board of Education voluntarily opened its doors to the state department of education and invited them to look at the county's facilities. We opened our doors and said, tell us how bad we really are, and that's why we have so many schools on probation, board chairman Robert Slay said. If all districts had done that we'd probably be much higher up on the list. Slay said the board would consider the proposal when the time came for the decision to be made, and added that public opinion would also be a factor in that decision.
