Graniteville Mills to grant cost of living wage raises
United Merchants Manufacturing and Graniteville Company will raise hourly workers' pay effective May 13 amid a cost of living adjustment. About 750 workers at Seminole Mills in Clearwater, 500 at Bath Mills, 100 at Walehem, and 800 to 900 at the Clearwater Finishing Plant are affected. William Lott says the increase averages about 10 percent for most hourly employees, based on living costs and competition.
