Alexander Stevens a 22 year old psychology graduate from Wofford College has been named director of the Salvation Army Strom Thurmond Community Center. The Pendleton Street Edgefield Avenue site will serve children aged 6 13 with athletics tutoring arts and crafts games and religious instruction. Stevens who grew up in Delaware and is a 1967 Aiken High School graduate will assume duties Monday and seeks donations or volunteers for site renovation.
Albert W Hamp faced two robbers and was later detained by two more assailants after three impersonators lured him to their apartment. A pistol robbed Hamp of cash and he fled on foot before police helped him recover his car, which had vanished.
