Restored 1943 Aiken fire truck enjoys local history legacy
Courtney describes restoring the 1943 fire engine for eight months, restoring its red paint and gold leaf lettering. It served in Aiken's 1985 sesquicentennial and Christmas parades before entering the county museum basement as a nostalgic artifact. The truck carried 50 gallons, pumped 500 gpm, and seated two, reflecting older firefighting tech.

County Parks Programs Fight for Participation in Spring
Emory Langston of Aiken County Parks and Recreation notes three spring sports programs rely on service fees. Youth soccer has 70 participants at 55 dollars each, church league softball has 11 teams at 300 dollars per team, and Dixie Youth baseball/softball has 90 participants with early 65 or late 70 dollar rates. An instructional soccer league in Wagener had 28 sign ups at 25 dollars in fall 2012. Funding covers staff salaries and operations. administrator Clay Killian says participation drives funding and plans to adjust programs based on demand as the master plan shapes future recreation offerings.

Tsarnaev Citizenship and Legal Options After Boston Attacks
Tsarnaev, now a naturalized U.S. citizen as of September 2012, faces federal charges with options in civilian courts. He remains under guard in a Boston hospital in serious condition after the twin explosions that killed three and injured many. Prosecution could seek the death penalty for weapons of mass destruction, while Massachusetts debates charges including Officer Sean Collier’s death. Public safety concerns prompted a possible Miranda public safety exception during initial interrogation.
