DNA samples asked in missing sister case in Aiken

Mattie Coleman’s brother, 69-year-old Mattie Cole man, submitted a DNA swab at the Aiken County Sheriff's Office to compare with a bone fragment tentatively identified as his missing sister. Coroner Tim Carlton said results from SC Law Enforcement Division and Newberry pathologists will aim to confirm identity and aid the death investigation. The body was found near Coleman’s Union Church Road home after her March 30 disappearance. officials describe the case as suspicious but provided few details.

Renowned Australian musician visits Aiken area students

Internationally acclaimed pianist Gil Sullivan toured Mead Hall Episcopal School in Aiken visiting about 65 students from first through eighth grade at St Thaddeus Church. Hunters Glen Faces Major Water Rate Hike Push

Residents of Hunters Glen may see an 80 percent rise in water and sewer charges after Carolina Water Service filed with the South Carolina Public Service Commission. The 93-household subdivision would add about 30 to water bills and raise sewer charges by roughly 5. The ORS will audit the service and participate in PSC hearings while public meetings are planned to gather resident input. Carolina Water Service serves over 7,600 water and 11,000 sewer customers across multiple counties.
