Consumer prices jumped 1.4 percent in March signaling persistent inflation. Social Security benefits will rise 14.3 percent starting July to offset higher living costs, boosting the average retiree check by about 41 dollars to 330 per month. Inflation trimmed workers’ real earnings despite a 0.9 percent wage increase.

A hotel source reports heavy telephone traffic with 600 collect calls home on Sunday.

The project costs 30910 dollars with 751 EPA funding and 24927 local share. A dumping site for septic waste is planned by July 1 with fees to be discussed.
