Study finds corn waste biofuels not cleaner than gas
A $500,000 federally funded study in Nature Climate Change finds biofuels from corn residue emit 7 percent more greenhouse gases than gasoline in the early years. Long term they may improve but fail to meet the 2007 renewable fuel standard, challenging cellulose biofuel expectations. Half of initial cellulosic market may come from corn residue.
