About 170 Aiken residents joined a caravan to a Senate subcommittee hearing to back a bill permitting cardiac services at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. The group filled the room and hallway, organized by the Community Task Force on Cardiac Services, seeking fair treatment from the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Bob and Elsie Greene traveled for heart services critical to them.
Gasper L Ren Toole chair man of the Aiken County Commission for Higher Education received a Distinguished Service Award from the USC Education Foundation. The award honored outstanding contributions to the USC system at USC Columbia awards day. Toole noted his 29 years on the county commission and his public service to USC Aiken and USC in Columbia.
