Planning Commission OKs tiny homes proposal in Aiken
The Aiken Planning Commission voted Thursday to recommend two ordinances on tiny houses and recreation vehicle parks. Seven of nine members attended. One member abstained on both items. The measures set a 750 square foot minimum for tiny houses in RC zones and restrict future RV parks to certain zoning districts with existing standards. The plan includes campground rules and future steps.

Army family gets roof funded by Purple Heart Homes
Sean Falcon, a wounded Army veteran, received a new roof funded by Purple Heart Homes with labor from Southpaw Roofing and materials from Owens Corning. The six hour project on Silverton Street replaced a metal roof with decking plywood, easing a heavy financial burden and improving living space for Falcon and his wife Liza, with their two children observing the update.
