Not Routine for Officer Seizes Major Marijuana Ring
Richland County narcotics chief Leon Lott helped arrest nine South Carolinians near Chapin in a case tied to more than 2 million dollars of high grade marijuana. Among those taken into custody was Michael Joe Rogers, a high school friend. Lott said arrests of familiar faces are hard but necessary and that Rogers was charged with conspiracy to traffic in marijuana and possession.

Last Chance Given to Eways on Willcox Hotel Compliance
Judge Rodney Peeples gave owner Joseph Eways until May 2 to comply with court orders to renovate the Willcox Hotel at Colleton Avenue and Chesterfield Street. The city had sought to declare the building unsafe and in fire code violation since a 1982 suit, with conditions to secure ground level openings, erect a fence, and allow city access for inspections. If noncompliance is shown, demolition could be ordered at the May 2 hearing.
