Savannah River Site officials say the site has not received the full requested funds for environmental management. Site Manager Dave Moody and financial officer Doug Hintze spoke at an SRS budget forum at Aiken Technical College, discussing funding gaps and the impact on cleanup projects.
Site officials say funds have not always matched requests by the SRS Community Reuse Organization. Despite receiving 46 million more than requested this year, 15 years have passed without full appropriations to cover projected work. Moody notes strong performance with available funds as plans continue to dispose of transuranic waste and produce plutonium oxide for MOX at the Site.
