Truck loses brakes in three vehicle crash along Ascanga Lake Road
An 18 wheeler driven by Benjamin Webb 36 of Saluda heading south on Ascanga Lake Road around 9 30 a m had brake failure. The vehicle carrying clay struck a Ford pickup and a Mitsubishi driven by a 20 year old North Augusta woman. Two women in the Mitsubishi were treated and released. Webb faced brake failure charges.

Poetry contest and car show announced by local shops and club

Burglary Probe On Hayne Avenue In Aiken
Police investigate a burglary on the 1100 block of Hayne Avenue in Aiken after a resident reported a disarrayed bedroom and signs of forced entry. Jewelry valued at around $1000 was missing. The case remains under investigation.

Graniteville man charged with two counts of lewd act on a child
Ricky Lynn Cooper, 44, is jailed on two counts of lewd acts on a child at his Eagle Street home. Authorities say the incidents occurred between June 2005 and March 2007, with the victim under six. Bond set at $30,000.
