Abandoned St Albertus Church Seeks Preservation
In Detroit the 112 year old St Albertus sits unused since 1989 when the diocese closed it amid a shrinking parish. Theresa Manning recalls family milestones once tied to the church as preservation groups warn many 19th and 20th century houses of worship face uncertain futures. Members hope city purchase or new development may save the relic, though upkeep remains costly and uncertain.
