The Aiken Standard resumes Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau after readers voted two to one in favor of bringing him back. The strip will appear again once Universal Press Syndicate mails the content, with editors pledging censorship for offensive language if needed.
County litter officer George McCormick cited a county employee driver after spotting loose paper from an open truck on Highway 19 inside Aiken city limits. The case, to be heard today at 5 p.m. before Beech Island magistrate Lester L. Chitty, comes amid tension with county officials over patrol and enforcement.

Beirut reports say the five day old clash between Christian rightists and Palestinian guerrillas shows general hold of a cease-fire announced by Premier Rashid Solh. Scattered gunfire and a shop blast occurred as shutters rose, with unofficial tolls around 170 dead and hundreds wounded. Joint patrols by Palestinians and rightist militiamen, under Lebanese security supervision, were planned.
