Aiken considers nonpartisan city council elections
The city council will put a nonpartisan ballot question to voters on June 10 to switch from partisan elections with a primary to a general election system. A 5-2 February vote supported sending the proposal to voters amid mixed public reaction. If approved, funding would shift away from party funding and could require runoffs, with official DOJ confirmation anticipated in coming weeks.
