Security beefed up after Boston blasts
Police worldwide increased security after the Boston Marathon explosions. In Los Angeles, the sheriff’s department activated its emergency operations center and boosted patrols at transit hubs and public buildings. New York deployed critical response teams citywide and heightened hotel security. California activated its threat assessment system and watched for threats, while the White House perimeter tightened and agencies urged the public to report suspicious activity on social media.
