Nancy Thurmond Remembered at Aiken First Baptist
Family and friends from across Myce and Aiken County filed past an empty bier Thursday afternoon in Aiken First Baptist Church to honor Nancy Thurmond the oldest child of Sen Strom Thurmond who died after being struck by a car in Columbia. The funeral is set for 4 p m in Columbia and burial will follow at Aiken Memorial Park. Senior Thurmond and family members stood for hours receiving condolences as harpist Vonda Williamson Darr played selections including First Arabesque Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring and Sicilian.
