Aiken elementary schools honored for closing gaps
Three Aiken County schools Greendale Millbrook and Gloverville were cited by the Education Oversight Committee for closing achievement gaps among subgroups. Greendale and Gloverville were praised for progress in English and math respectively while Millbrook narrowed gaps in English for minority and low income students.

Ninth Annual Paws for Cancer Dog Walk at H Odell Weeks
Veterinary Services hosts a one mile Paws for Cancer Dog Walk on May 3 at 8 a.m. at H Odell Weeks Activities Center to honor people and pets affected by cancer. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Participants register for 15 per dog, receive a T shirt and goody bag, with prizes for top finishers. Photos for a memory board are accepted for a 3 donation through April 25. Sponsorships welcome and more info at 648-5489.

Herb Faire at Pascalina farms this May weekend
The annual Spring Herb Faire returns to Pascalina at 3250 Charleston Highway near Montmorenci on Saturday May 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 28 vendors including a cactus grower potter and goat cheese, plus foods from Three Pigs in a Boat and grits by Steve Gantt.
