A man fired at a Khadafy portrait used as target practice and was arrested at his North Hollywood home. Jeffrey Doctor, 35, was taken into custody about 5:30 p.m. Monday after neighbors complained of shots. Police found the pictured Khadafy with bullet holes on arrival.
Washington reports a 1.1 percent drop in February business sales to 427.2 billion, the largest decline in eight months, with inventories barely rising by 0.03 percent to 585.1 billion. In Columbia, Democratic candidate Phil Lader and wife Linda filed their 1985 return showing 93,988 income and 37,000+ donated to charity, paying 14,386 federal and 3,001 SC taxes, challenging rivals to disclose theirs.

Reagan warned Muammar Khadafy to end cycles of terrorism after the Libya strike. Trucks circled the Capitol to blunt car or truck bombs, recalling the 1983 Beirut attacks. Lawmakers warned of further retaliation and potential damage to U S standing in the Arab world and to the peace process with Israel.
Nighttime bombing by 33 American warplanes targeted Libyan military sites near Tripoli and Benghazi. Buildings in downtown Tripoli were blasted to rubble. Libya denounced the raid as cowardly while the US said it was retaliation for Libyan sponsored terrorism. Ministers reported Khadafy not seen in public and officials claimed his survival.
Washington AP reports a midnight deadline for most Americans to file taxes while tax research shows Tax Freedom Day 1986 arriving in May. About 40 million have already received refunds and 10 million filed on the final day. Extensions and overseas departures alter timing.
