Demolition of Grace Memorial Bridge Under Explosive Blast
Explosives toppled 540 tons of steel on the 77 year old Grace Memorial Bridge on the Mount Pleasant side. The 480 foot section tumbled into ten pieces along the Cooper River approach. The work aims to clear shipping channels for the East Coast port as the Ravenel and Pearman bridges remain in service.
