Rep. Butler Derrick says the South Aiken post office will open early summer at 720 Silver Bluff Rd, expanding the site to 4,000 extra square feet with 1,500 post office boxes. The facility will offer mail and package services, stamp sales, box rental, and walk up counter service.

The Aiken City Council unanimously approved a Stormwater Utility to fund $3 million in projects. The plan starts July 1 with a $2.80 monthly charge on qualifying single family homes, plus per acre charges for commercial properties, targeting Sand River Wise Hollow Kalmia basin and over 60 neighborhood projects.
Aiken passes first reading of an animal control ordinance tightening pet licensing fees and at large restrictions.
