New Site Proposed For USC Extension In Aiken County

The Aiken County Higher Education Commission seeks a new 100 acre site for the University of South Carolina Extension near US 1 with an $80,000 purchase and a $300,000 bond boost plus a $250,514 HEW grant. The plan aims to finance a facility for about 600 students, offset by a federal interest subsidy and potential program cuts if funding fails. Enrollment has fallen 10 percent to 325 this year amid program reductions.
