Aiken and national figures marked April 12 as Equal Pay for Women Day highlighting the pay gap. AAUW speakers and officials like Mayor Rick Osbon urged pay equity, noting women earn about 79 to 80 cents for every dollar men make, with larger gaps for mothers and women of color. City council member Lessie Price and others urged action amid stalled federal bills.
