Ex-convict Stephen Stanko captured after nationwide manhunt
Deputies in Aiken County had urged vigilance after information linked Stephen Stanko to the area. U S marshals captured the 37 year old suspect at the Augusta Exchange shopping center parking lot as he allegedly tried to flee in a stolen 1996 Mazda pickup. Authorities say he may have attended The Masters over the weekend before his arrest.

Aiken County forensics positively identified the body found in a North Augusta swamp as 51 year old John L. Culbreth using latent fingerprints.
