Attorney General John Ashcroft approves a closed circuit broadcast of Timothy McVeighs execution to survivors and families in Oklahoma City. A government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, says the telecast will be shown in Oklahoma City.
Heilig-Meyers Co plans to close its remaining 375 stores including the Aiken outlet and liquidate all inventories. The move affects about 9,000 to 3,500 employees nationwide while the company remains under Bankruptcy Court protection. Twenty four South Carolina stores will cease operations.
