Power poles knocked down after high speed crash in Aiken

A single car crash on Whiskey Road and Easy Street in Aiken at 4 45 am damaged three power poles and snapped lines leaving 75 to 100 customers without power. Jesse Robert Bauman 18 Robin wood Drive was charged with DUI after police found him with a cut above his eye and forehead admitting to drinking a beer. Police could not perform a Datamaster test at headquarters and sent him to North Augusta Public Safety for the test. The incident disrupted power and cable services until nearly noon as SC Electric & Gas workers and cablevision crews repaired damage at a cost around 15000 dollars.
