AP reports defending champion Tom Watson is the golfer to beat at Augusta National while Nicklaus, noting age and obituaries rumors, says he still aims to win majors. Player predicts weather and low scoring despite showers as he seeks victory.
Aiken receives a 6 p.m. Channel 6 feature spotlighting local news and the arrival of major league style baseball with lit scoreboard on Dixie Youth league games. A local boy says he feels like a New York Yankee amid the new atmosphere. Neil Croft returns from fishing with two small fish and a tale of the one he tossed back.
Rescuers completed about 80 percent of the devastated area and the death toll stood at 42 from the Texas tornado. City leaders imposed curfews, a price freeze, and warned of looting while guards patrolled the stricken zones. Across the border, 57 deaths were reported in three other communities as new twisters hit several states. Governor Clements toured the damage.

St Marys Catholic Church offers Mass at 5 pm and 8 pm. Good Friday features dramas and several liturgies at 2 pm at St Mary Help of Christians and Stations of the Cross at 8 pm. Rev Emmanuel Pratsinakis will speak at All Saints noon Good Friday service. Clearwater Baptist Church plans a Passion play at 8 pm tomorrow and Saturday at Sunset Memory Gardens. St Thaddeus Episcopal in Aiken hosts a Tenebrae service after a 7 pm crucifixion drama. Bethlehem Lutheran St Johns Methodist and First Baptist Bath also announce 7 30 pm Good Friday services.
The Aiken City Council approved a 1970 update replacing 63 small business schedules with eight categories and graduated fees. Utilities, fire insurers, and several sectors face higher costs while others see relief. palmists and fortunetellers remain barred from operation.
An Air Force C-141 delivered about 75 drops of heavy water from the damaged Three Mile Island reactor to the Savannah River Plant for testing. NRC spokesman Frank Inghram said tests on three cubic centimeters of primary coolant water will determine isotopes and radioactivity levels.
