Phantom of the Fox dies at 89 in Atlanta
Joe Patten known as the Phantom of the Fox in Atlanta passed away at age 89 after a stroke and coma. A lifelong guardian of the Fox Theatre he helped save it from demolition in the 1970s and again aided firefighters during an April 1996 blaze.

Homeless leave Charleston tent city
The last resident of a homeless camp under an interstate overpass in Charleston has left after a weeks long effort to clear the site. 29 residents remain in a North Charleston warming shelter, with over 100 formerly living there. A backhoe cleared tents and debris as police reported a calm, arrest free operation.
