Food Stamp Back Benefits Possible After Denials
Virgil L Conrad of the South Carolina Department of Social Services says some residents denied 30 day emergency food stamps under the 1974 verification rule may qualify for back benefits. A federal district court in San Francisco overturned those verification procedures for not being published in the federal register. The USDA allows urgent applicants a 30 day emergency supply without full verification if income is low enough to qualify for free stamps.
