Longworth Dies at Aiken After Lung Pneumonia
Nicholas Longworth of Cincinnati a former six year Speaker of the National House of Representatives died in Aiken South Carolina at his winter home. His wife Alice Roosevelt Longworth was at his bedside and will take his body to Cincinnati for burial. He was born November 5 1869 and married at the White House February 17 1906.

School claim payments suspended in Aiken County news
Payment of all school claims in Aiken County has been suspended until further tax collections. Taxes are nearly stopped with $426,992.48 collected since last October and $149,381.05 still due. Of the due amount, $65,765.05 is for the school fund. State school funds are not due until next month. Tax payments without penalty extended to May 1.

Col Leroy Springs Dies Rich Cotton Manufacturer Passes at 69
Col Leroy Springs a prominent Charlotte and Lancaster textile magnate died here after a three day throat illness. He owned mills at Lancaster Fort Mill Kershaw and Chester and lived in Myers Park. He was father to Captain Elliott White Springs WWI ace and novelist. Funeral held at his home with burial in Lancaster Westside Cemetery. He was born November 12 1861 in Fort Mill York County. He built Lancaster mill in 1892 with 1 55 million capital and expanded holdings to over 5 million. He married Grace Allison White in 1892 and Lena Jones in 1914. He was active in many institutions and enterprises.
