Aiken's Kevin Kisner shot par on Friday at Augusta to make the Masters weekend, joining 16 players who broke even or better. He weathered a five hour round and a tough back nine after a rough previous day, while Jordan Spieth led the charge atop the leaderboard.
Tom Watson, 66, wrapped up his 43rd Masters with a final lap at Augusta National. He shot 78 in the second round, missed the cut by two, and received standing ovations as he thanked the patrons and reflected on a kid’s dream fulfilled.
Defending champion Jordan Spieth shot 74 on Friday at Augusta National, his first over-par round at the Masters. He remains 4 under, leading for the sixth straight round after surviving four bogeys and a double. He praised the save on the final hole and noted par is still a solid target.
Rory McIlroy carded a 71 to reach 3 under, tying for round of the day as he chances a weekend duel with Jordan Spieth at Augusta National. He offset earlier bogeys with a late birdie barrage including a 16th hole 39 foot putt and a 15th birdie to shape a potential career Grand Slam push. Kyle Dawson reports from Augusta.
