The House Ways and Means Committee rejected a plan to drain an extra 2.1 billion from 1974 and 1975 oil profits by a 13-12 vote. He called for finance committee review before approvals and noted a potential $100,000 revenue shortfall this fiscal year. The panel tentatively approved 5500 for four Clerk of Court clerks after an emergency appeal to ease reporting backlog.

Aiken City Council asked the County Commission to fund part of the city recreation program expenses for county residents who use city facilities. City officials say 59.3 percent of participants live outside city limits and should contribute to costs. The council plans to send a formal request with expense breakdowns to the county.
