Bill seeks workers’ comp for first responders’ stress injuries
Senate minority report on S 429, led by Sen. Ross Turner, questions extending workers’ compensation to mental injuries among South Carolina EMS and police. Wes Howard, a Lexington EMS veteran, has urged removal of the report, citing PTSD cases among seven local officers. Sen. Shane Massey warns workers’ comp could limit doctor choice and add legal hurdles, while stressing timely access to treatment.
