She taught until age 90 and lived to 101, saying she never made money but loved children. Nivens was the youngest of 10, educated at Bettis Academy, and inspired by her mother’s example.

Leslie Moore recalled King as Moses guiding toward a better way as crowds gathered at the civil rights museum.
