Republican runoff set to decide S.C. House Seat 83 race

Voters narrowed the field to Arthur Shealy and Don Smith for the S.C. House Seat 83 special election runoff to be held April 18. Smith led the primary with 890 votes (41 percent) followed by Shealy at 665 (31 percent) and Butler at 504 (28 percent). Rev. Nathaniel Irvin won the Democrat nomination with 348 votes (91 percent). The May 23 general will pit Irvin against the runoff winner.
