Wachovia Corp plans to acquire Hunt, DuPree, Rhine and Associates Inc and Retirement Plan Securities Inc, both Greenville based. If approved by their boards and the Federal Reserve, the deals will close by end of April. McKinney says the moves expand Wachovia’s offerings in benefits consulting and pension plan administration while keeping the companies’ Greenville bases and names.
Laidlaw Environmental Services says it received about 56.1 million Safety-Kleen shares, roughly 94 percent, amid a four month takeover battle. The deal values at about $2 billion with cash and stock, includes assuming $240 million debt and cuts about 800 jobs. A Wisconsin shareholder meeting remains to seal the merger for non tendered shares.
