Former America lead singer Dan Peek is set to perform Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Etherredge Center at USC Aiken. Peek, who helped the group earn nine platinum sales and a 1972 Grammy for Best New Artist, left in 1977 for a solo career and released All Things Are Possible in 1979. Tickets cost 37 for the public and 5 for USC Aiken students and faculty, available at the center box office or Student Activities Center.
Opening reception today from 2 to 5 p.m. kicks off a display running April 6 through 24 with hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit features watercolors acrylics inks and other works by amateur artists.
The Aiken Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind will sponsor paper drop-off at 441 Chesterfield St. Papers should be tied or bagged and dropped off any time. The American Lung Association and HCA Aiken Regional Medical Centers will hold a from Smoking Clinic from Tuesday through May 5 at HCA Aiken. Sessions run 7 to 8 p.m. Registration costs 25 dollars. For information and registration call Mildred Clark at 642-0607 ext 442.
The Staley Brothers of Aiken sponsor a gospel program at the Hazel Recreation Center today at 5 p.m. The St. George gospel group and others perform. Admission is 3 dollars at the door, 2 dollars for seniors.
