SRR wins 18 month extension for Savannah River Site liquid waste work
Savannah River Remediation secures an 18 month contract extension through September 2020 valued at about 759 million from DOE. AECOM leads SRR with Bechtel National BWXT and CH2M as partners. The deal keeps the incumbent team on site as DOE signals changes in the liquid waste mission. Colin Demarest reports for the Aiken Standard.

Frommer Served Steeplechase Association Leader and Volunteer
Jeffery D. Frommer, longtime Steeplechase Association member and vice president, died March 31 at 65. A native of Aiken, he helped organize the Aiken Spring and Fall Steeplechases, reworked Bruce's Field parking, and mentored staff and volunteers. Survived by Jackie, four children, three grandchildren and six siblings. Funeral services were private at George Funeral Home.

MAiken Magic robotics team gears students for real world STEM jobs
MAiken Magic at Aiken High School trains public private and home schooled students from Aiken and Richmond counties. The team meets Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays for six weeks to research design prototype and program a competition robot. Head coach John Fogarty notes students gain 3D modeling manufacturing and programming skills and many alumni pursue STEM careers.
