Staff and volunteers participated in the March of Dimes Walk America at H Odell Weeks Center in Aiken Southside. The 5.1 mile route through town started and finished at the center with 500 expected participants across 25 teams. Organizers anticipate about 14000 dollars raised, describing WalkAmerica as the year s largest fundraiser and oldest walkathon in America.

Death of Windsor youth ruled suicide in county jail
A 19 year old Windsor youth died Friday night in the Aiken County Jail. He hanged himself with a bedsheet tied from a wall sprinkler in his maximum security cell. Jeremy Eugene Jones of Cable Crossing Road Windsor was pronounced dead at 8 31 p.m. at HCA Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Inmates discovered him around 7 30 p.m. as they played cards near his cell. He had been arrested a day earlier on second degree burglary and grand larceny charges.
