Aiken NJROTC Helps SPCA With Shelter Makeover
Aiken High School NJROTC cadets spent the weekend repainting the Aiken SPCA interior and washing dogs. The project, started after Lt Commander Tony Negron adopted a dog, saves about $6,000, enabling care for 20 animals for a year. About 23 cadets participated each day along with parents.

Arbitration program grows as funding sought for expansion
The Second Circuit Juvenile Arbitration Program seeks $240000 total funding to raise per circuit reimbursement from $45000 to $60000. The program diverts first time juvenile offenders under age 16 from the family court system and has grown to over 400 statewide volunteers. It diverted 4879 juveniles in 2005 and reports a 91 percent two year non recidivism rate. For more details, call (803) 642-1512.
