The Aiken Department of Public Safety reports a 30-year-old woman detained Monday after attempting to steal about $200 in jewelry from a Whiskey Road store. Burglaries occurred on Abbeville Avenue and Hamelin Road, with items stolen including video game consoles. A Wagoner woman, 43, reported jewelry, a firearm and prescription drugs missing from Old 96 Indian Trail Road. A 71-year-old Aiken woman reported identity theft after a fraudulent tax filing. Vehicles were stolen from I-20 west, North Augusta and Barrett Street, Langley, on Monday.

Sex offender charged after public drunkenness in Aiken County
Bill Darrell McCarty 59 of Burnside Avenue was detained after an officer found him intoxicated near U.S. 1 and Martintown Road. He faced public intoxication and failure to register as a sex offender, with a nose laceration from a fall noted in the incident report.
