Aiken Regional Can't Offer Angioplasty After DHEC Order
Aiken Regional Medical Centers cannot perform angioplasty except in extreme emergencies after a Friday order by hearing officer Brian S. Wade ending the automatic stay from DHEC. Board chair Lessie B. Price said Dr. David W. Cundey may operate if a patient’s life is truly in danger. The hospital had conducted 50 to 55 angioplasties since April 1992, mostly emergencies, with two elective cases previously.
