Fugitives Captured After Kidnapping Attempt Ends in Standoff
Three inmates John Harris 41 John Parker 39 and Walter McCrary 33 escaped from Goodman Correctional Institution in Columbia and kidnapped a motorist. Harris slashed Hattie Jackson as he fled while Marie Gunnells and others defended the car. Harris was captured later as Parker and McCrary surrendered after a one hour standoff.
